AI music faces legal threat as Shein picks London for its IPO

Top News

  • AI music companies face lawsuit: The RIAA is challenging two music AI startups, Suno and Udio, alleging “copyright infringement involving unlicensed copying of sound recordings on a massive scale.” The two companies have reportedly been tight-lipped on their training data sources, which we reckon says quite a lot.

  • Apple confronts new EU legal woes: Apple has changed how it allows apps to be distributed and monetized in the European Union. However, the EU is not content with Apple's changes. Given prior market reaction from European tech companies irked with Apple’s heavy-handed approach to platform moderation even after the modifications, we’re not shocked.

  • Shein’s London listing is a go: After filing privately in the United States last year before seeing its IPO plans slow, Chinese fast-fashion giant Shein is moving ahead with a UK listing. It has now filed confidentially to list in London, CNBC reports. A small loss for American exchanges here is a coup for the British boards.

  • And there are so very many eVTOL companies worth discussing. On the podcast today — live at 2 PM ET — we’ll sort out who we think will be the winners, and perhaps add one or two to our growing list of the private companies you need to track.

On Wednesday, we’ll list the new inductees and tomorrow we’ll dig into the latest news from existing TWiST500 members.
